Cleaning Your Rugs
The deep cleaning process of your carpets and rugs should be handled by a professional cleaning service. Check your phone book or online for your city to find
cleaners in your area. Get several quotes before proceeding. Have each company explain their process to you and tell you why their system is better. Get their
references and call them - at least three. Hire the one you like the best. However there are some things you can do in between cleanings
to help keep your carpets and rugs clean.
- Invert the rug onto a clean sheet.
- Vacuum rug thoroughly
- Turn rug over and vacuum top side
- Beat rug with beater bar, if you have one
- Vacuum rug again
- Dampen sponge or clean cloth with water
- Blot dirty or stained areas several times (gently please)
- Keep moisture to a minimum by blotting often with dry cloth or towel
- Use soft, clean carpet brush over the area to raise pile
- This also exposes fibers to the air to dry
- Agitation lifts remaining dirt and helps to dry rug
For cleaning your carpets, I like personally the service and quality of Coit Carpet Cleaners. I've tried many others through the years, but I always come back to
Coit. They may be a little more expensive than some, but I think they are worth it.
